Martin Janecký
Martin Janecký (*1980)
He started working with glass at the age of 13 in his father's glassworks in Oseček near Poděbrady. After graduating from the Secondary Industrial Glass School in Nový Bor, North Bohemia, he travelled abroad to gain experience in South Africa, Sweden, the Netherlands and, above all, in the US, where he studied at the Pilchuck Glass School (Washington) with eminent artists. Richard Royal a William MorrisHe has mastered the technique of "inside sculpting" (forming a flask on a pipe from the inside), with which he creates unique sculptures in which he strives for realistic qualities of human heads, animals, figures, skulls, hands, etc. He does not use moulds to create them and shapes them by hand directly at the kiln from hot enamel. This is extremely demanding work requiring special experience. He is one of the few people in the world to master this technique at this level. Soon he became a sought-after teacher-lecturer and has been invited as a guest artist to a number of glass programs, including the prestigious Studio Glass Museum in Corning, the Pilchuck Glass School, the Penland School of Crafts in the US, and the Toyama Institute of Glass Art in Toyama, Japan. Janecký's works have been purchased by public and private glass collections at home and abroad and exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. In 2019, he established his own glassworks in Prague's Kampa district - Janecký Studio.
