Vladimíra Klumpar

Vladimíra Klumpar graduated from the Prague Academy of Fine Arts in 1981 after studying at the SUPŠ glass school in Železný Brod. She studied under Prof. Stanislav Libenskywho, together with Jaroslav Brychtová is synonymous with fused glass sculpture. He has inspired many of his students to use it artistically, but only a few have been able to make a lasting name for themselves abroad. Vladimíra Klumpar lives and works in the US (1985-1998), Mexico (since 1989), and the Czech Republic (since 2000). Her glass objects, often using bright dominant colours, are dynamic and vital. Even in their contemplative form, they contain the energy of movement. They are a captured image of a moment, an unrepeatable snapshot, a blink of the eye. They have an inner trembling, restlessness, vibration, a way of communicating inherent on Earth and within man. That is why Vladimíra Klumpar is one of the most outstanding artists of her generation. She doesn't treat glass as an ordinary material, but as a unique natural phenomenon, a fifth element.

Vladimir's glass objects, often in bright dominant colours, are dynamic and vital. Even in their contemplative form, they contain the energy of movement, they are a captured image of a moment, an unrepeatable snapshot, a blink of the eye. They have an inner trembling, restlessness, vibration, a way of communication inherent on Earth and within man.
